The community of Virden has a variety of indoor and outdoor facilities available to the public. Some of these facilities include a golf course, recreational facility, swimming pool, tennis courts and much more. Below is a more in-depth description of each including its location, hours and its offerings.

Virden & District Swimming Pool

The Virden & District Swimming Pool is an outdoor facility that is located at 220 Lyons street east, near the agricultural grounds and new recreational facility. It includes a kids play pool, diving board, water slide and 6 lanes of approximately 25 meters. Swimming lessons and a few swim meets are offered at this location during the months of June to the end of August. Virden Wellview Golf Course

The Virden Wellview Golf Course is located just west of Virden on highway #83 and PR #257. This 9 hole golf course takes place over roughly 2913 yards and includes grass greens, sand bunks, water, grassy roughs, driving range and practice areas. Also located on this golf course is a licensed club house. Snacks and meals are available here along with cart and club rental. Oak Island Golf Course

Located approximately 15 minutes east of Virden is a beautiful 18 hole golf course. This 6626 yard golf course offers beautiful scenery with water, trees and sand bunkers. The driving range offers a wonderful opportunity to warm up your swing and each hole has the option of 4 tee decks. There is a large, licensed club house on location where you can rent golf carts, clubs or sit down for a beautiful meal and an ice cold beverage. Recreation Facility

A new Multi-Purpose Recreational Facility was built in Virden in 2011. This building contains a hockey rink, community hall, walking track, office space, meeting rooms, canteen and a fitness center. This building has been set up to be handicap friendly with the installation of an elevator for those that are unable to use the stairs. The hockey rink has 1200 individual seats, an NHL sized ice surface and provides a comfortable environment with climate control. Located in this area is a skate sharpening shop and lockers to store your equipment. During August this area is transformed into a rodeo arena which offers high classed performances for 3 days. The community hall located within this building offers seating for 500 people and an exceptionally large kitchen to host any of your entertaining needs. Virden Curling Arena

This Virden Curling Arena is located at 170 Lyons street east beside the swimming pool and the new recreational facility. The arena currently contains 4 sheets of artificial curling ice along with a licensed bar and kitchen area. This arena is run as an independent organization and is currently fundraising to build a new arena which will be attached to the new recreational facility. During the summer months this organization rents this building out for many different events which can hold approximately 500 people. For more information or to book this facility call 748-1745.

Virden Junior High School Skating Rink
Located at 447 Princess Street West, Virden's Junior High School has a beautiful outdoor skating rink. This facility is run by the school and is open for public use. A small building is located adjacent to the rink that offers benches and a warm place for you to put on your skates and equipment. Agricultural Facility

Virden has a large agricultural facility that is located near the multi-purpose recreational facility. These grounds offer many barns, wash racks, outdoor arenas, showers and a building which offers a canteen, bathroom and office space. These facilities are owned by private organizations such as the agricultural society and the Virden Indoor Rodeo. This area is maintained throughout the summer season and is the location of some of the local horse shows and rodeos. Soccer Fields and Track

The Virden Collegiate is located at 251 Kent Street and offers a soccer field, football field and a running track. These are privately owned by the school and used throughout school hours. Baseball Diamonds

Within the town of Virden are many baseball diamonds. These are located near the recreational facility and the agricultural grounds. There are approximately 4 diamonds that are maintained during the summer months and frequently used, hosting many league games, tournaments and practices. Virden Tennis Courts

Located within the town of Virden are 2 outdoor tennis courts. These courts can be found on 7th Avenue South within the boundaries of Victoria Park. They are opened during the months of May to September and available to the public with no booking times. Nets are supplied with the addition of a well marked, asphalt playing field. Virden & Area Snowmobile Trails

Around the Virden area are many groomed snowmobile trails. These trails are maintained by an independent organization know as the Virden Valley Runners. These trails cover areas all of Manitoba and can get you safely from one town to the next. Lions Campground

The Lions Campground is open from April 15th to October 31st and is located near the Virden Collegiate on the Provincial Road 257. This campground offers a total of 32 fully serviced sites and 15 partially serviced sites. There is also a separate area for tents along with a building which contains handicap accessible washrooms and showers. Aspen Grove

Located approximately 9 miles east of Virden is Aspen Grove campground. This site is located within a highly treed area along the #1 highway and offers many additional luxuries. This campground offers serviced sites, a laundromat, playground, hiking trails, bicycle rentals, c-store, outdoor swimming pool, mini golf and a washroom/shower facility. Four Seasons Island Resort is located approximately 15 minutes east of Virden. This full-functional resort offers many luxuries to its surrounding communities.
